Happy New Year

Well it looks like 2009 is going to be a very interesting year! I know many people are discouraged with the shape of the economy and trying to save money.

Remember everything cycles and the economy will eventually get better. In the meantime, I am sure everyone has noticed the price of food has gone up quite a bit. In these tough times there are some ways to cut food costs and one of the best ways is to prepare your own meals.

I know some people have argued that it can be cheaper to eat out - but they are usually referring to fast food. This eating out trend has greatly contributed to the rising obesity problem in the United States and the overall deterioration of our health.

With the new year, why don't you make a resolution to eat at home more often for your health and wallet. One inexpensive food is pasta. You can buy it in bulk to save money and it stores conveniently for a long time. Pasta is versatile and can be prepared in so many ways; it really can accommodate a wide variety of budgets and diets.

If you prefer the taste of fresh pasta, you can save considerable money by making your own. It is really not difficult and requires just a few basic tools.

Experiment with different pasta sauces and find what you and your family enjoys. Pasta is a great food to enjoy right now as even in these tough economic times, it is still inexpensive, filling and delicious!
